3 months old

I know I am WAY behind in my blog posts. I have been so busy working, but mostly enjoying our sweet baby boy.

I love the way he searches the room for me when he hears my voice and when he finds me, his face will break into a BIG grin. He has recently found his hands and realized he has control of them. He also has discovered his tongue. Most times said hands are at said tongue. He spent 90% of his awake time last Sunday with his tongue sticking out of his month. He's not a thumb-sucker, but if mama would let him, he would be a finger sucker. We try to catch him and pop the binky in when this happens.

He still sleeps beside our bed, but no longer in the bassinet (it was becoming a shoebox for him), but rather in the bassinet attachment of a play-yard. He's doing much better at tummy time, but still prefers to play on his back.

He does so well at holding his head up and supporting himself. If you lay him on your lap, he already tries to sit-up cause he wants to see everything. Owen sleeps so well at night, frequently sleeping from 8pm to 5am straight, however, he doesn't nap so well during the day unless you're holding him (though he is currently napping in his swing quite well).

We had to switch him to 3-6 month clothes last weekend. It was quite heart-breaking to have to pack up all his 0-3 month clothes. He's so long that most clothes are still big on him, but the right length. We have family pictures being taken next Saturday, so I will post those when we get them back.

Owen is a generally all around happy baby, but he does have his serious moments and is already fascinated by what Mommy and Daddy stick in our mouths. I'm afraid we'll be feeding him solids before I know it. Although a generally happy baby, he does have a temper on him unfortunately. Most times his temper will come forth when he realizes Mom is trying to put him to sleep.

I miss him so much when I have to take him to daycare, but I know Mary is taking good care of him. It's such a great relief to know he's being well taken care of.

His Daddy and I are so in love with him. We can't imagine our lives without him! Here are some pictures from his 3rd month of life:

2 Months Old

My baby boy is now 2 months old as of Monday! Oh my goodness how the time flies! It's still surreal to me that he is actually here and I get to love on him every day. I love him so much.

Today he had his 2 month, 'well baby' checkup. He is now 11 lbs, 8 oz. This moved him from the 33rd percentile in weight to the 45th percentile. All my worrying about whether he is eating enough or not is for nothing. I do believe he has my side of the family's height gene. He is now 24 in long. He's grown 3 in these last 2 months and is now in the 85th percentile for height (that is up from the 75th). He's getting to be so long that I may have to have him start wearing 3-6 month clothes soon. All his 0-3 are getting to be too short!

In addition to the normal things the dr checks, which he says is all wonderful, Owen also had his first vaccines today. Poor little guy had to be stuck 3 times and take an oral one as well. He didn't mind the oral one, but mom was distracting him while we waited for the needles and I felt so guilty trying to make him smile with what was coming next. And sure enough, as soon as he was stuck, he got a look of shock on his face and then promptly burst into tears. It just about broke my heart. Since then, he has been fussy off and on and sleeping like crazy (completely understandable).

Below are some recent pictures:

A picture on Mama and Owen on the day he turned 2 months.

Still his favorite place to sleep. Must be the pillows.

He really is such a smiley boy.

Apparently Mama kisses him too much cause already at 2 months old he knows what to expect when someone comes in to get kisses.

Look just how tall he is.

Playing with Mommy and Daddy.

He was our little rockstar this day. He looked so cute and grown up. He then had to be changed out of these clothes as he pooped all over them at Olive Garden.
Apparently he can smell mama on the blanket, cause he wouldn't give up the receiving blanket I use while nursing. He looks so cute holding onto it that we decided to buy him a proper 'blankie'.
